8.00 - 8.30am Breakfast is served

8.30 - 9.00am Children are given the opportunity of free play or quiet time in the book corner.

9.00am The Early Education class begins; children arriving at this time are encouraged to participate in free play with Nursery staff.

9.10am Register and carpet time, children are told about the activities for the morning.

9.20am Craft activities, small group games, phonic activities/pencil control practice, early maths games and free play take place.

9.55am Tidy up time - all children are encouraged to help.

10.00am Carpet time - we talk about the weather and the days of the week etc. and usually have either a story or songs or a circle time game.

10.10am Children wash their hands ready for drink and snack time, children are chosen as ’drinks helpers’ and they pour the drinks for the other children, we focus on healthy food which is appealing to young children. Children are offered milk or water to drink.

10.30am Physical time - either outdoor play in our enclosed garden when weather permits or indoors in our classroom.

11.00am We resume the creative activities and other structured group work from the first part of the morning.

11.45am Tidy up time

11.50am Carpet time selected from; stories, songs, poems, action rhymes, puppet show, story sacks or a circle time game.

The children are separated into two groups at this stage, the children who are staying for lunch are grouped together in one classroom and the children who are going home at 12 noon stay together. Both rooms have the same structure of activities.

12.00 noon Some children go home

12.05 Children who are staying for lunch wash their hands and sit at the tables.

12.10 Lunch time which is followed by quiet activities and resting

1.00pm Second Early education class begins - Free play to begin with before register.

1.05pm Register time, children are told about the afternoons activities.

1.15pm Craft activities, group work, early maths, small groups, phonic activities and free play (different activities from the morning to provide variety for those children staying all day)

1.55pm Tidy up time

2.00pm Children wash their hands for a drink and snack. Children are offered milk and water and a healthy snack e.g. fruit. Children also help to pour the drinks.

2.20pm Physical play - either outdoor play in our garden or indoors in the classroom.

2.45pm We resume activities and free play

3.00pm Some children go home

3.30pm End of Early education class - some children leave

3.30 - 4.30pm Children are able to choose from a wide range of equipment and activities, children are also encouraged to rest when needed.

4.30pm A light tea is served with drinks

4.45 - 6.00pm Children can make full use of the Nursery activities and outdoor play if weather allows. Quiet time from 5.45pm to prepare for home time.

6.00pm Nursery closes
