At Loddon Nursery School we believe that children should be offered a healthy, nutritious and balanced diet. Breakfast consists of a selection of cereals and toast with spreads and milk or water. Our mid morning and mid afternoon snacks are chosen from the following; Fresh fruit, sandwiches - cheese, marmite, tuna or ham, apple, breadsticks and raisins, malt loaf, cheese and crackers, dried fruit, vegetable sticks and dip and a cheese biscuit. Children are offered milk or water to drink at all meal times and fresh water is available throughout the day. Children enjoy bringing Birthday cake or buns to Nursery on their birthday and we will serve these instead of a snack on those days. There is an additional charge of £2 for the cooked lunch Wes serve a cooked lunch which includes: Spaghetti Bolognese with pasta Chicken and leek pie, mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables Puddings Fresh fruit kebabs Nursery staff sit and enjoy their lunch with the children to encourage good social skills and manners. Children are not made to eat food they dislike, but are given child size portions of all foods on the menu that day and are encouraged to try them. Children are also encouraged to use their cutlery correctly if they are able to do so. We do not serve beef on the Nursery menu A light tea is served during the late afternoon which consists of; crumpets, toast, sandwiches, crackers and cheese, pasta shapes on toast and salad items. A small pudding is also provided which can include, fresh fruit, yoghurt or a small cake. All dietary requirements are catered for including; vegetarians, gluten free, dairy free, diabetic etc. We have extensive knowledge of gluten and dairy free diets. We have a daily cook who prepares the lunches. |
