Government Funding.

Two year old funding
If you receive any of the following benefits, your two year old may be able to access up to 15 hours per week of free nursery education:

  • Income Support Benefit
  • Council tax benefit
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Childcare Tax Credit (above basic family element)
  • Housing Benefit
  • Working Tax Credit (at higher level)

Please contact us if you require any further information.

Three year old funding
Every child is entitled to three year old funding the term after they turn 3.  They are entitled to an average of 15 funded hours of nursery education each week (if schools have inset days, funding is not given and you will have to pay full fees on those days) during term time.  If you do not use your full entitlement during term time you are able to use the remaining hours during holiday clubs.

You are able to access the 15 hours flexibly throughout the week, provided Norfolk County Councils guidelines are followed:

The 15 hours can only be used between two nursery/pre schools per term and should be used over a minimum of 38 weeks and maximum of 50 weeks per year.

How can the hours be used each week - You can split your 15 hours over a minimum of 2 days and a maximum of 5 days
Minimum hours per day - 2.5 hours.
Maximum hours per day - 10 hours including lunch hour
Hours - Not before 7 am or after 7 pm.

For children who only attend in the afternoon our session time will be 1 - 4 pm to ensure you are able to access 3 hours per day. We will charge our normal hourly fee for any hours taken above the 15 hours.
All the above probably seems really complicated so here are some examples to hopefully make it a little clearer!

If a child attends 9 - 3.30 pm twice a week and one morning 9 - 12 noon. Total hours 16 hours. There would only be a charge for 1 hour per week plus a cooked lunch if applicable.

If a child attends 2 days a week 8 - 6 pm, total 20 hours you are only able to claim 15 funded hours. There would only be a charge for 5 hours plus a cooked lunch if applicable.

If a child attends 5 mornings 9 - 12 noon, total 15 hours. No extra hours would be charged.

If a child attends 5 afternoons 1 - 4 pm, total 15 hours. No extra hours would be charged.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
