Loddon Nursery School

Loddon Nursery School is a private, long established Nursery owned and managed by Director Jayne White since 1993. Our team of highly qualified, dedicated and passionate staff offer outstanding care and education for children from birth to five years. We are open 50 weeks of the year from 8am – 6pm.

We follow ‘The Curiosity Approach’ ethos, offering an environment which creates a culture of curiosity, awe and wonder that ignites and inspires children’s enthusiasm to play and learn.

Our approach is to provide a calm, natural environment rich in loose parts, open ended and authentic resources. This creates thoughtful invitations to learning which capture and inspires children’s imaginations.

Ladybird Room

Ladybird Room is for 9 of our youngest children aged 0-2 years in which we provide a welcoming, nurturing environment to create a ‘home from home’ experience meeting each individual family’s needs. Babies enjoy a beautiful natural environment in which qualified, experienced and caring staff build strong trusting relationships with families. Babies have endless opportunities to explore heuristic and sensory play both in and outside.

Caterpillar Room

The Caterpillar Room has up to 22 children aged from 2 to early 3’s. Our spacious and thoughtfully laid out environment reflects the natural world, rich in loose parts and authentic resources to promote Independence, learning and exploration.

Butterfly Room

Our Butterfly Room is home to 18 children in the year prior to starting school. This modular classroom provides a rich enabling environment where children become independent learners and critical thinkers, building on their own experiences in preparation for school.

Garden

We have a beautiful natural environment where children have endless opportunities to explore the varied resources; loose parts including, real bricks, guttering, wooden pallets, logs, tubing, cable reels etc. Our garden area incorporates a sensory path which leads children to different areas including a mud kitchen, construction area, water feature, raised growing beds and a secret garden. Bamboo and soft planting provides a natural, sensory experience for all.

Both Caterpillar and Butterfly rooms are able to access the garden in all weathers through daily “free flow” play, choosing when they wish to use the inside/outside. Ladybird children access the garden daily within their routine.
